Used to making skin their canvas, seven tattoo artists from Burns Tattoo Shop reveal another facet of their creativity. From this Tuesday through November 7, more than 50 acrylic paintings are on display at the Muriavai Hall of the Maison de la Culture, on the occasion of the first Burns Tattoo Shop Expo. An invitation to discover their worlds beyond ink and tattoos.
Known for their creations on skin, they are about to explore an entirely different medium. From Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 November, seven tattoo artists from Burns Tattoo Shop will present their works for the first edition of the Burns Tattoo Shop Expo, at the Muriavai Hall of Te Fare Tauhiti Nui. For this collective exhibition, the artists have chosen to illuminate another dimension of their artistic practice: acrylic painting. More than 50 works will be gathered, offering a glimpse into the diversity of their worlds, their inspirations and their sensitivities, writes the Maison de la culture in a press release. Colors, shapes and personal styles will allow visitors to discover facets of these creators that are sometimes little known.
Beyond demonstrating their craft, this inaugural edition also aims to foster exchanges between the artists and the public. Visitors will be able to meet them, discover the techniques employed and learn more about the inspirations that feed their work. With this initiative, the seven artists want to show that their creativity is not limited to tattooing and that their artistic expression can blossom on different supports. An opportunity for art lovers as well as curious onlookers to view these ink professionals through a different lens.
